Resistor Networks

Individual Resistors [Resistor Array]
Although a 16-pin Dual Leadless Chip Carrier [Dual LLCC] is shown below, other component packages are possible. This package style [interconnect style] is used when there is no common connection point for the individual resistors.

Individual Connection Resistor Network

Individual Resistors, common connection
The resistor array shown below shows a 16-pin DLLCC arrangement. The nineteen individual resistors each have a node that only connectors to one pin of the device, with no resistors connected to any other resistor in the package.
Common usage; tie pin 16 to Vcc, and use each resistor as a pull-up. Tie pin 16 to ground and use each resistor as a termination.

R-Network 16-pin Dual LLCC IC
Common Resistor Network

Common Connection Networks are used when many of the same value resistor connect to the same point, normally a voltage node [Vcc or Ground]. These resistors within the package will normally always be the same value.

Resistor Network, parallel connection [Thevenin]
Common usage; bus termination. Normally pin 16 will connect to Vcc and pin 1 will connect to ground.

The Parallel Connection Network will be one of the few network packages that will contain two different value resistors. As shown in the package graphic above; Resistor R1 will be one value while Resistor R2 will be some different value. There are many different value combinations that relate to standard bus termination schemes.

Refer to the table to the right to see standard values for both R1 and R2. There are other possible common values not shown. Also refer to the definition of Termination Resistor, which is part of the section of Resistor Terms.

16-pin Dual LCC Package
Dual Leadless Chip Package

This styles is defined in MIL-PRF-914/5 as package style RNS050 using a 16 pin leadless chip carrier. The physical make-up of the resistor is a fixed film resistor.
