MIL-DTL-5015H - Connectors, Electrical, Circular, Threaded, AN Type General Specification

Main Military Connector manufacturers [Vendors providing other DOD style connectors]
Military Connector Specifications [Listing of the different DOD connector specifications]

Amphenol Corp. {MIL-C-5015 Series III, Military part numbers MS3450 through MS3459}

Array Connector Corp. {MS5015; MS3101F, MS3102A/R, MS3106A/R, MS3108A/R}

Conxall Corp. {Contact threaded MIL-C-5015 type plastic Power connectors}

Hirose Electronic {US Army MIL-C-5015 Connectors, No of Positions 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 17, 19, Shell Size 10, 18, 20, 22 & 24}

ITT Cannon {MIL-DTL-5015, Threaded coupling, 13-150 amperes, 1-100 contacts}

The shell size is a number given to indicate the physical size of the connector.
The number of positions is of course the number of pins or sockets held in the connector.
The common style is a threaded twist-on coupling, the less common style uses a compression fitting for quick disconnect.
Although a Bayonet Fitting is also considered a quick disconnect, but requires a twisting motion to disengage the connectors.

MIL-C-5015 connectors use a threaded coupling except for quick disconnect MS3107 and MS3507 types.
Responsibility for MIL-DTL-5015 was passed to the SAE in 2000, as SAE-AS50151.
Each of the individual MS part numbers or specification sheets now have SAE document numbers [a one for one transfer].
So MIL-DTL-5015 has been cancelled without replacement, superseded by SAE-AS50151 [different agency, same connector].
This fact hasn't stopped any manufacturer from claiming MIL-DTL-5015 compliance, or updating a catalog to indicate the SAE spec.

MIL-5015 Documentation Note;
MIL-DTL-5015 is a specification that covers connectors with both military and commercial applications. Revision H to this document is a maintenance action, prior to conversion of the document to a non-government standard [version 'H', May 2000, was the last up-date].
These connectors are rated for operation within a temperature range of -55C (-67F) to either 125C (257F), 175C (347F), or 200C (392F) depending upon the class. The upper temperature is the maximum internal hot spot temperature resulting from any combination of electrical load and ambient conditions.
