Part Number Decode

M Prefix; is constant and always present, Military.
Basic Specification Prefix; 32139 is constant and always present, MIL-DTL-32139
Detailed Specification Sheet; also called the Slash Sheet [SS], calls out a particular connector type.
Insert Arrangement; indicates the arrangement of the pins and how they are numbered.
Termination or Wire; indicates how a wire is attached to the connector.
Hardware; indicates if any additional hardware is required, for example a jackscrew.
Shell and Finish; indicates the metal used to produce the shell.
Space Class; indicates if the product is qualified for space use [but may be left blank].

The MIL-DTL-32139 specification only covers a few types of connectors, 4 cable connectors and 2 board connectors.
The two board connectors are both single-row vertical or straight connectors; slash sheet 5 covers pin contacts, and 6 covers socket contacts.
The cable interface connectors are all straight, crimp type and cover both single and double row contacts, as follows:
Slash sheets 1 covers a single-row, Pin Contacts, cable connector and slash sheet 2 covers a single-row, Socket Contacts cable connector.
Slash sheets 3 covers a double-row, pin contacts, cable connector and slash sheet 4 covers a double-row, Socket Contacts cable connector.

This specification does not yet cover what would be considered common configurations yet.
Double row board mount connectors and not yet covered, and right angle connectors are not covered.
However that does not mean that a company may not produce these styles, just that there is no standard that covers the configuration.
In other words, if you need a right angle dual-row connector, a company might already be producing one.
