A Link Tester may do nothing more than check for the existence of a link.
A protocol tester will actually test for proper communication protocols over an interface or network.
A cable tester is more a lab instrument designed to test the continuity and proper wiring of a cable.
A Harness tester would be a device to test multiple connectors and interfaces all attached to the same cable.
A cable assembly tester would be used to test per fabricated cables, which is the same as a cable tester or harness tester.
Of course any piece of gear that claims a standard would be designed to test that particular interface.
A packet analyzer, protocol analyzer or sniffer would all be terms covering cable testers.
