SpringBoard Pinout

Handspring's SpringBoard, Pin Out

The Springboard expansion slot were produced on Handheld Computers developed by Handspring, how ever Handspring no longer makes Springboard modules.
Springboard cards were used for more then just Flash memory expansion.
Springboard was designed using the same 68 pin header used on the PCMCIA PC Card, but the pinout is different.
The pinout table below defines the main connector pin out, how ever there is an expansions slot that is not yet shown on this page.
Handspring used the industry standard Palm OS as its software platform.

Xilinx has an Application Note [xapp147.pdf] covering CPLDs as used on the Insight Electronics Springboard Development Card, dated 2002.

The SpringBoard card dimensions are: 67mm x 54mm

Because Handspring no longer produces the SpringBoard product, it's safe to assume that this product is obsolete.
Also because this page only covers the signal assignments for the SpringBoard,
it's also safe to assume that this pinout table is obsolete with no apparent upgrade path.
In addition Handspring merged into palmOne in 2003.
At the same time people may still own a SpringBoard, for what ever reason.
The picture shows a Visor PDA from Handspring.
