Real Time Clock Modules will have a Built-in crystal oscillator.
The oscillator frequency is normally 32.768KHz, regardless of being built in or an external component.
Some devices are temperature compensated and contain internal memory.
Real Time Clocks provide both the date and time and account for days of the month and leap years.
They may also provide the time in either 12-hour or 24-hour formats.

Interfacing control information to the real-time clocks could be serial, parallel or use a defined interface standard.

Some Real Time Clocks may indicate year 2000 compliant
Which indicate a date of 00 that relates to the year 2000 and not the year zero.
The year 2000 issue occurs when RTC components, other devices, and software trace the year by only the last two digits.
