There are a number of specifications and standards which relate to equipment chassis and rack design. The specifications listed above are just a sample of some of the more common specifications a chassis may have applied to it. The specifications relate to chassis testing, coating, power supply design, rack sizes and so on.
Related data; Power Supply Specifications.
Any common commercial or industrial standard would also apply when using any number of released chassis specifications. For example the standard for the VMEbus defines the chassis dimensions and layout with in the standard.

External Finish Notes
Paint per FED-STD-595 [Colors used in Government Procurement]
Textured paint, light gray per Sherwin Williams; all exterior surfaces; aluminum is brushed gold chromate per MIL-STD 5541, steel is light gray paint over primer
The gold chromate conversion (aka "alodine") finish, as specified on sheet metal enclosures ,does not comply with RoHS due to the presence of hexavalent chromium (Note: the hexavalent chromium imparts the 'gold pigment' to this finish).
