There are 3 main types of desktop computers, these include: Desk Top computer systems, Work Stations, and Gaming PCs. Desk top PC systems are used at home or in the office. Desktop systems as a rule are middle of the road computers, but many companies allow the different options to be configured and upgraded. Normally Desk-top computers have one or 2 PCIe x16 Video slots and one processor [which may be dual core]. Workstations normally come with dual processor sockets [which could also be dual core] and up to eight DIMM memory sockets. Gamer PCs are also high-end systems, but almost never dual processor systems. In many cases gaming PCs come with cases that are a bit more flashy, and with high-end video cards. Dual Core processor have two cpu's inside one processor IC. Quad processor IC's are shipping now. |
